Christmas Hat | Printed Knitting Pattern

A festive PetiteKnit favourite, the Christmas Hat is a classic pointed knitted hat with a cosy folded brim and cheerful pompom – perfect for adding a handmade touch to Christmas.

The Christmas Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up on circular needles and double pointed needles (or using the magic loop technique with a longer cable circular needle) towards the point. A casing for the elastic is made along the lower edge, or a rib edge is worked. Lastly, a small tassel or pompom is made and then sewn on the point of the hat.

Sizes: Small (large). Fits head circumference smaller (larger) than 50 cm.

Gauge: 23 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm [US4] needles

Suggested needles: Circular needles: 3.5 mm [US4] / 40 cm [16 inches], 3 mm [US2½] / 40 cm [16 inches]; Double-pointed needles: 3.5 mm [US4]. If opting for magic loop, 80cm [32 inches] or 100cm [40 inches].

Materials: 100 (100) g Pernilla by Filcolana (50 g = 175 m [188 yds]) or 100 (100-150) g Double Sunday by Sandnes Garn (50 g = 108 m [118 yds]), approx. 0.5 m [19½ inches] of elastic band (2 cm [¾ inch] wide)
