More About Us

In a nutshell, The Little Knitting Company™ is a family run independent online company based in rural Oxfordshire not far from the Uffington White Horse. The company was formed in early 2008 by Ruth Chester and has gone from strength to strength. The real passion is natural fibre such as cashmere, alpaca and merino. Responsibly sourced products, of excellent quality and with the maker in mind. As a family business, we believe we price fairly and competitvely at all times and do not have sales or "Black Friday" type events.

At the award winning Little Knitting Company™ we love to discover gorgeous wool and yarn. Using great designers to create garments and accessories, we offer complete knitting kits too. Our responsibly sourced albizia and subabul wooden knitting needles are a joy to use, dark and blond hardwood makes using any colour yarn possible. CITES regulations now restrict the use of rosewood.

We have been huge fans of rinse free Soak since we started and their Flatter ironing spray is perfect for blocking. ChiaoGoo's premium knitting and crochet tools have proved a huge hit with our customers. Over time we've added products from Cocoknits, Lazadas, Loome, Lykke, Pom Maker,Twig & Horn and more.

EU Customers - The Little Knitting Co is signed up for IOSS, collecting and remitting import VAT on your behalf. VAT on orders under €150 will be collected and paid to the relevant authorities by The Little Knitting Co. It is important to note that this does not apply to orders over €150 and that those parcels from the UK may still attract customs and handling charges, based upon the regulations of your own country's authorities.

At the end of 2015 Ruth suffered a spontaneous Subarachnoid Brain Haemorrhage (SAH). She considers herself one of the very lucky ones to have survived unscathed and received such fabulous care at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.
